If you select this option, your message summaries will include a Preview column that shows the first line of the message body. You can set the number of characters in the preview, up to 128 characters. The message summary still shows the From, Subject, Date, and Lines columns, but you may have to scroll right to see the Date and Lines, particularly if you set it to display a large number of characters, such as 128.
